DESCRIPTION
NJR Recruitment are working with a leading global packaging manufacturer to recruit an experienced Senior Buyer.

Our client is an award-winning international business with manufacturing facilities across Europe and Southeast Asia, supplying packaging solutions to many of the world's leading retail, grocery and FMCG brands.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation in a strategic procurement role with genuine global reach. You'll take ownership of key packaging categories, managing supplier relationships, driving sourcing strategies and delivering commercial value across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end procurement of packaging materials to support manufacturing operations.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company's product portfolio and associated packaging requirements.
Gain an in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and how packaging materials are utilised throughout production.
Build and maintain strong relationships with packaging suppliers, manufacturers, merchants, agents and other key industry contacts.
Lead commercial negotiations to secure competitive pricing, service and contractual terms.
Identify and deliver cost-saving initiatives across the packaging supply chain.
Manage supplier evaluation, selection, performance reviews and ongoing quality standards.
Travel extensively to meet and develop relationships with the global supplier base.
Approve purchase orders in line with SAP authorisation procedures.
Drive stock optimisation while maintaining agreed service levels and product availability.
Ensure compliance with waste legislation, BRC standards, customer requirements and ethical sourcing standards.
Promote best practice throughout the packaging supply chain.
Monitor market trends, supply risks and demand changes, proactively implementing strategies that benefit the business.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate:
Significant buying or procurement experience within the packaging industry.
Strong knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing and converting processes.
Experience sourcing high-volume materials across Europe and Southeast Asia.
An established network of packaging suppliers, manufacturers, merchants and agents.
Knowledge of SIOP within a packaging manufacturing environment.
A strategic approach to procurement and supplier management.
A proven track record of delivering measurable cost savings and commercial improvements.
Excellent negotiation skills with experience leading face-to-face supplier negotiations.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Commercial acumen with the ability to make informed sourcing decisions.
Experience using MRP systems, with SAP knowledge highly desirable.
