DESCRIPTION
Candidates with experience in electricals / appliances will be of particular interest.

I am currently working with a hugely successful supplier to the retail industry based near Wigan. They are currently seeking an experienced Technical Author to join their team reporting to the Product & Technical Director.

Job Purpose:

Produce high-quality product documentation, including product instruction manuals, warning sheets, warning labels, installation guides, online help, release notes, and troubleshooting guides.
Translate instruction manuals into multiple languages using AI and/or translation companies.
Organise and structure content to meet the needs of various audiences, including both technical and non-technical users.
Maintain and update existing documentation in line with product updates and releases.
Participate in product development meetings and process to stay informed on new features, changes and contribute to product improvements.
Ensure documentation adheres to the company's style guide and industry best practices.
Help maintain and edit Product Information Management (PIM) system
Create and contribute to knowledge base articles, internal training and training materials. With specific focus on training materials and for the internal Customer Engagement team.
Help create, edit and update Product Service Manuals
Help with spare part management (consumable and engineering spare part): spare part identification, spare part set up and initial order request.
Conduct peer reviews and edit content created by others for clarity, grammar, and accuracy.
To undertake other miscellaneous activities/project work deemed appropriate for the role of Technical Author to support the efficient operation.


The Candidate:

You will be experienced in a Technical Author role - ideally within the Electricals / Appliances sector.
You will be computer literate and well versed in PowerPoint and Excel, with good negotiation skills and an ability to critique and improve products
You will be a driven individual with the will to succeed and deliver projects on- time and in full and ensure others do as well. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into easily understandable content. Experience with documentation tools and version control.
